What’s up friend,
I know it has been a while since you’ve heard from me. I’ve been taking an intentional break from all forms of media including my writing. I’m slowly re-acclimating myself to create content meaningfully and intentionally.
I thought I’d take some time to update you on what’s been going on in my life as an entrepreneur and personally.
I had my first therapy session today…
I know, it probably sounds crazy that I identify as a financial therapist and haven’t pursued therapy before now. In truth, as much as I’m an advocate for mental health I had to inspect the internal beliefs I had about when it’s appropriate to pursue therapy and what accessibility to the service looks like for me. Just like with financial therapy, I’ve learned that it’s just as appropriate to pursue mental health therapy during shifts and changes in lifestyle or to get a better understanding of how you interact with the world to prevent a crisis as it is to seek out therapy when you’re in the midst of crisis. Although I don’t feel this particular session was beneficial to me in terms of what I wanted to work through, I understand that therapy is a process so I scheduled a follow up appointment as well.
I started volunteering at my local library
I worked out an arrangement with my local library where I offer pro bono financial counseling on the first and last Mondays of the month for 2 hours each Monday. I can’t tell you how fulfilling it’s been to be a resource for people to get clear on their financial circumstances, learn the basics of financial literacy, or even brainstorm goals to help increase their income and work through some tough challenges. One of my goals this year was to get more active in my community and take some of my online business offline. This service has also led to several speaking engagements and marketing blasts that show up in my local town newspaper and social media accounts.
Creating more impact through speaking
I’ve discovered that the least revenue-generating activity in my business was one-on-one coaching while the greatest revenue-generating activity has been writing and speaking. Naturally, I’ve leaned more into speaking and have been getting more paid engagements based on that focus. I will share that my biggest learning as an entrepreneur is that diversification of income streams is important BUT, prioritization of those income streams can make or break you. Prioritizing the streams that generate the most income takes a ton of pressure off of the streams that don’t generate as much income which then allows you to do things like provide pro bono financial counseling at the library.
I’ve been in a bit of a funk personally
Part of the reason I had my first therapy session today is because entrepreneurship is HARD! But more than that life is hard! I’ve found myself in this weird space of wanting more out of life but feeling guilty for it because of all the things I’ve accomplished. It could be burnout or something else but I’ve been taking the appropriate measures to disconnect from the “busy work” and focus only on the essentials. Despite that, I had to come back and show you some love!
First Look!
I recently got access to this sizzle reel from my engagement with Experian earlier this year and it came out AMAZING. I haven’t posted it to social media YET but of course, you get first dibs on all the good stuff before the rest of the world does so let me know how you like it!
I hope all is well in your world.
Until next time!

Hey! Starting therapy is a huge step, and I’m so glad you did. I know the feeling of being in a funk, but I’m learning not to feel guilty about where I’m at, even if it doesn’t look like everyone else’s path. Keep going. You’re doing powerful work. Hope therapy’s still part of your journey!
I love that you are volunteering at the library!
