New Year, new me? Or are we going to perpetuate the cycles of things we already know don’t work?
So far, I’ve already written out my vision board for 2023 broken into categories that include:
Personal goals
Professional goals
Financial goals
And while this list will likely continue to grow as the year unfolds, this is not an unfamiliar activity to me and it probably isn’t to you either.
Vision boards have been rising in popularity over the years as more people shine a light on the power of intent and manifesting. However, due to its great popularity you might hear some people jumping on the manifestation bandwagon with quick tips and sound bites that yield no result for you. Here’s why:
There’s a difference between intent and intentionality
It all starts in the mind but sometimes it can end there too. While your intent might rest on the idea that you want “x” thing to occur, intentionality will include your writing out the idea and creating goals around how to take steps toward accomplishing that idea. If you want to read more then you write down a specific number of books you want to read per year, per month, and even broken down to a number of pages read per day. The same thing applies to your budget, savings, investing, and income strategies.
Unwavering belief and support
Sometimes we tell our BIG goals to small minded people or people who have a different vision about how success looks for you. Those people might say something, make a face, or simply not react at all to what you are sharing. These interactions (or lack thereof) can create doubt in your ability to accomplish or attain said goal. You have to fortify your belief by being more influential than the people around you. That includes building a community of people who will build you up and reminding yourself of your goals daily via the recitation of affirmations and/or daily writing around what your goal is and how you intend on accomplishing it.
Getting caught in the minutia
Details matter, but sometimes we become so detail oriented that it stops us from making any decisions. We need to take steps towards our goals without having the rest figured out and “build the plane while we’re flying it”. It’s the best place to be to make adjustments, get feedback, and even get support. The universe favors action takers, and if you take a step towards your goal the universe will conspire to make your goals a reality.
Manifestation is real
I’ve seen the “law of attraction” work out more times for me than it hasn’t. One disconnect I’ve noticed is that the right questions, the right intentions, the right WORDING matters. On the eve of this new year I want you to think about your goals for 2023 in a different way, particularly your financial goals and the things that act as obstacles in achieving them.
Think about how and what you belief about money. How are those beliefs negatively impacting what do you with the money you make or prevent you from making more.
It’s not enough to say “I want to earn 6 figures in 2023”. Break down how you want to earn that money, what are the activities that will generate that income? How much money per quarter do you need to make to hit that income? Per month? Per week? Per day? Think about the things you are willing to sacrifice to make that goal a reality. Is it a will issue or a skill issue? How can you be more disciplined or gain more skills?
Lastly, I hope you take time in the next few days to truly rest. Take time to be grateful for what you have and what you’ve accomplished and gear up mentally, spiritually, and physically for the new year!
See you in 2023!
