Happy First Friday!
Happy December and Happy First Friday!
First Friday’s are always special to me because it’s like the end of the week but the beginning of the month full of opportunities
No, your eyes aren’t fooling you I did a stealthy rebrand of the Substack complete with a new logo, new color scheme, and all new layout (check it out)! I might be early but I’m really kicking it into gear before the holiday season to get a head start on the new year.
November flew by but not without it’s own celebratory news to share.
I passed the AFC® exam! but more than that I received the AFC® designation. That means I met the educational, experience, and ethics components of the designation and can now refer to myself as an accredited financial counselor.
I won’t lie, it was hard work. In fact I failed the exam by 2 points the first time I took it but passed with flying colors the second time. This designation allows me to act as a fiduciary to provide counseling and planning services to clients looking for assistance in :
Debt management
Creating a budget
Credit counseling
Investment Education
Understanding employee benefits
And more
Although I was doing the work already in a coaching capacity, financial coaching is not a regulated industry meaning that technically anyone can call themselves a coach without a fiduciary duty to their clients. Of course they should act in the best interest in the client, but this designation gives me and my clients the extra padding and reassurance that I am here for them. To celebrate I’ll be launching a financial counseling incubator program to work with just 5 clients in the month of December for a reduced rate.
Also, if you are in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New York area I’m co-hosting my very first independent event on Money and Mental Health. I’ll attach the flier and the registration link below.
