We all experience financial stress and uncertainty at some point in our lives, and it can be overwhelming. However, it's important to remember that you're not alone and that there are steps you can take to regain control of your finances.
Here are some tips for overcoming financial trauma:
Acknowledge your feelings: It's normal to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or embarrassed about your financial situation. Recognize and accept these feelings, but don't let them control you.
Create a budget: Creating a budget is one of the most important steps you can take to regain control of your finances. This will help you see where your money is going and identify areas where you can cut back.
Reduce debt: If you have debt, make paying it off a priority. Start with the debt with the highest interest rate and work your way down.
Create a plan for the future: Set financial goals for yourself and create a plan to achieve them. This could include increasing your income, reducing expenses, or building up an emergency fund.
Seek help: If you're struggling with debt or managing your finances, don't hesitate to seek help. Consider working with a financial counselor, financial therapist, financial coach, or taking a financial education course to get on the right track.
Remember, overcoming financial trauma takes time and effort, but with persistence and the right strategies, you can regain control of your finances and build a brighter future!
Last month I did a series of lives with James Huntley aka Coach James promoting a project we are working on in combining financial wellness and budgeting into a course and workbook. Check us out here.
You’ll hear more about this project from me here as things progress but we’re cooking up something special for those who show specific interest in that form.
